Who We Are

2024 Black Joy AI Summit

The 2024 Black Joy AI Summit is a pioneering initiative that brings together Black leaders, technologists, cultural artists, and scholars to reimagine the future of artificial intelligence through the lens of Black Joy. We are a community of visionaries and advocates who believe that technology, rooted in cultural understanding and ethical practices, can be a powerful tool for liberation and empowerment.

Our leadership comprises esteemed individuals from diverse fields—public interest technology, academia, cultural institutions, and the arts—united by a shared commitment to creating AI that honors and elevates Black experiences. This Summit, taking place on September 13-14, 2024, at Union Temple Church in Washington, DC, is supported by the National Science Foundation, reflecting our dedication to blending the humanities, arts, and technology in ways that promote sustainability, equity, and dignity.
